Prompting like a PRO (1)
"Prompting": what is it actually?
A prompt is simply the question or instruction you give to AI.
Examples of prompts:
- "Make an image of my teacher in a prison suit"
- "Write an email from my mother saying I cannot do my homework"
- "Explain photosynthesis"
The better your prompt, the better the answer.
Bad prompt: "Help with maths"
(AI does not know: which level? Which topic? What do you not understand?)
Good prompt: "Explain adding fractions to a pupil in year 5. Use examples with pizzas."
(Clear, specific, usable answer)
So prompting is really: asking clear questions. The more specific, the more useful the answer.
It is good to help your child prompt clearly. But at least as important: help them think about what you do and do not prompt.
In the next post a framework to have that conversation.
